What assessments do you use?

(This came to me from a fellow CPO - Steve)

We're trying to determine which assessments you find effective in helping develop talent. So many of the approaches available merely look at personalities and behavior. The focus seems to be on gaps and weaknesses.

We're looking for something different because we have a culture that focuses on our employees' strengths. It's easy to point out differences and what's "wrong." There have to be assessments we could utilize to help us build on our talent.

Please share what you find to be effective. Your recommendations would be very helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Hi! I have access to a few assessment tools and worked exclusively with assessments a few years ago. Happy to talk it through!

Not all companies are going to value this the same, but this is the only assessment I am familiar with that is not personality based and actually focuses on people's strengths and what area/types of work they will perform at best: 6 Types Of Working Genius: Discover Your Gifts & Transform Your Work

Just finished this book.  I haven't done the assessment yet, but I found it extremely interesting.  The author wrote Silos, Politics, and Turf Wars which has been an enormous help for one group I support.

I love The Predictive Index, but StrengthsFinder might be a fit for you!

I second Predictive Index. Great experience for employees, ability to create team profiles, and frankly, they don't nickel and dime you for everything like other programs out there.
I'm a certified facilitator in Myers-Briggs and Predictive Index. Similar results but MBTI is more personality based, while PI is behavior based.  You're welcome to reach out to me if you have questions.
