Employee who Stays At Home Despite being labeled "Essential"
I'm curious how companies are handling a situation where an employee is uncomfortable returning to work due to social distancing/stay at home policies, yet your company has deemed their role as "essential" and unable to work from home? In this scenario the employee argues that their particular role is not essential and has risk factors for transmitting/contracting the virus, but does not have symptoms or diagnosis.
Hello Michael, I work for Amazon and we are allowing anyone that doesn't feel safe to simple stay at home. They have the opportunity to use PTO, vacation or UPT (unpaid time off.) We have a process they follow to report the absences, but we are not terminating any one that does not feel safe and decides to stay home. We remind them of all the measures we are taking and how we re-evaluate this measures on a daily basis to keep them safe.
