Tracking Exempt Employees Time Off
In your company, are salaried workers made to clock in and out? If not, how is there time being tracked? I am struggling to write a PTO policy. Some of our exempt employees have the ability to work from home and some don't. I am unsure when is appropriate to deduct from their PTO banks.
No, because they do not need to. I think if you read the DOL and FLSA regulations, you'll be able to better determine your policy.
For my company, if an exempt employee works min of 4 hrs, they are paid for the full day, no PTO deducted. Any less and PTO is applied.
