2017 HR Professional Development Events

Hi there !!

I have two questions I'd like the HR Netters to respond to:

1) What HR professional development events would you recommend that people attend in 2017 (around the globe)?

2) What events do YOU personally plan to attend?

Thanks - Steve

Great questions Steve. I'd encourage folks to travel and try something different. The Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development runs its annual conference in Manchester UK in November each year. I get a lot from attending SHRM events and having been to three states, plus the UK equivalent event - what I notice is that they're all different - so whatever folks are used to - stretch yourself a little. In December this year I'll be attending the Royal Society for Public Health's 'Art Health and Wellbeing' conference. I'm starting to feel a need to widen perspectives and try new things. I'm undecided about 2017 currently - I'm tempted t give HR events a complete miss and just go to different places and see what other folks think of HR, of learning and development. I'll keep y'all posted!

Definitely the annual state conference is always a good place to start. For example, I'll be attending the 39th annual HR Florida Conference & Expo in Orlando, FL. I attended last year for the first time and it was amazing. More info: www.hrflorida.org.

Of course, SHRM Annual Conference & Expo is a great conference and worthwhile to attend, network, learn and have a great deal of fun!

Lastly, I attend local HR events from different HR chapters in South Florida.

  • After attending my first annual SHRM conference in July, I am hooked! A friend and I are brainstorming on jobs that would allow us to attend conferences on a regular basis. Professional development + Live engagement with colleagues = Pure Joy!

    1) I highly recommend local/state HR conferences for info relevant to your org and of course SHRM's annual conference.

2)I have attended all of the above. I've heard buzz about the Work Human conference. Can anyone give me their take on the conference?

    Thanks!
