Seeking PTO Policy options + Attendance Policy options

My company currently has weekly accrual for vacation/PTO that I am seeking options for PTO/Vacation.

  • Do you front load vacation effective 1/1?
  •  How does front-loading PTO work for you, what doesn't work?
  • Do you have a buy-back or a buy-up vacation program?
  • What is your current attendance policy?

We currently have a PTO borrow program up to 40 hours that we are seeking to change.

  • What works for you and your PTO program and what doesn't work?

Feel free to reach out to tracey.dykes@thalermachine.com.

    Tracey -

Our PTO cycle starts in January every year. People are given their weeks/hours for the entire year. We've been doing this for years. It has never been a problem. We have a schedule we follow based on years of service.

I'd be glad to share the details of the full program with you if you'd like. Just email me at: sbrowne@larosas.com

    Thanks - Steve

    Hi Tracey,

My organization's PTO is on an accrual basis, beginning on day 1 of FT status. We get a certain amount of PTO each pay period based on tenure. People can roll over up to 80 hours, but we are pretty lenient with that and allow them to roll over more if they have a plan of when to use it.

We do not have a buy-back or borrow program. We pay out the accrued PTO upon departure from the company. I hope that helps!

We front load based on Anniversary year to avoid people having the desire not to "lose their PTO" at the end of the year, even though we now offer a rollover. Front loading works fine. No buy backs, no cash outs, no balances paid out at end of employment.

Yes rollover is 40 hours then max cap is 200 hours. I'll email you our policy so you can have a look.
