During this interactive presentation, Geoffrey Scheer will utilize the power of live theater to illustrate the ethical and financial benefits of a diverse, inclusive and harassment free workplace. Volunteers from GCHRA will be selected in advance to perform several short scenes with Geoffrey depicting real-life workplace situations of discrimination, unconscious bias, harassment and other barriers to diversity and inclusion. Geoffrey will then lead a discussion with the audience attempting to understand the underlying motivations behind each character's actions and explore alternate ways the various situations could be handled.
Learning Objectives:
(1) Underscore the importance of diversity and harassment awareness training; it's the "right" thing to do (moral and ethical reasons) and it's the "smart" thing to do (legal and financial considerations)
(2) Learn how to identify the underlying motives behind people's behaviors and actions
(3) Explore alternative, "outside-the-box" training methods prioritizing human connection over reliance on technology
Geoffrey Scheer is managing director of Access Communications, a training firm that uses live theater to illustrate the ethical and financial importance of a diverse, inclusive and harassment-free workplace.
