Roth 401(k) Participation

(This came to me from a Benefits Manager of a midsize company - Steve)

We just added a Roth 401(k) option to our 401(k) Plan. This wasn't only for the new changes for those doing catch-up contributions. I wanted to see if others have added this to their Plan and what type of participation you're seeing.

We're hoping it's an attractive option for our younger new hires. Thanks for sharing what you're seeing.

We have had the Roth option with our 401(k) for several years.  At this time about 30% of our employees contribute some portion of the contributions via Roth post tax.  The Roth option is definitely a plus for us.  Roth elections have steadily increased over the years.  Education on the difference and benefits is key.  If employees do not fully understand their options they may be hesitant and less likely to make the best and most-advantageous choices.

not sure where you are at but I provide complimentary financial literacy to organizations.  Happy to jump on a zoom for 10 or 15 minutes and share how we have helped Leadership teams enhance the current benefit packages by doing exactly as you mentioned.... EDUCATE!
