Running and applicant tracking software system for thousands of folks, we are seeing an influx of fake resumes and applicants coming through on some major job boards. There are some signs that they are not real, such as the answers to certain questions on the application are similar or word for word the same, or sometimes the answers do not seem to match a carefully crafted answer to the question itself. When HR tries to interview or get a hold of these fakes, the hacker is seemingly trying to gain access to their email program where they will then mask themselves. In other words, they are using your email address to send out messages, but they set things up so that there are hidden folders that you do not see, and you will never see the messages or the responses they are getting because it is all going to a hidden folder unbeknownst to the person whose email has been hacked. Sometimes this will undermine your hiring process as the scam artist uses your account to post fake jobs on your behalf and work with applicants using your email address, and you never see the messaging back and forth.

    BE vigilant my friends!
