20 for 21
HR Succeeds 20 for 21 Initiative
I’m not going to lie; I feel a lot of hope for our not to distance future. I see the signs that our economy is on the verge of turning around and we are heading towards low unemployment within the next 2 years.
On the other hand, I’m concerned; a Feb 6-7 article in the WSJ warns of
“The Crisis of Unemployed Graduates” and that since the start of the pandemic, hiring for entry-level college graduate positions has fallen 45%."
Which brings me to my 20 for 21 Initiative. I’m calling on my network of HR Mentors and friends to join me in posting 20 HR Internship/CO-OP or Full-Time HR opportunities that I will be sharing directly with my UC Organizational Leadership Talent Development and other HR focused students.
Why my students? Because here are just some of the things we do to prepare our students for careers in HR.
HR Curriculum (Intro to HR, Employment Law, Staffing, T&D, Compensation, Performance Management)
Supporting Curriculum (Leadership, D&I, Business, Communications)
Personal Development (Networking, Personal Budgeting, Insurance, Retirement Planning, Mentorship Program)
Outside the Classroom Workshops/Meetings (OSHA 10 Hour General Industry, Paycor Software Users Training, aPHR Prep Course, Book Club, Professional Speakers)
So here is my ask, if your organization has plans to hire an intern this spring or summer, contact me and I’ll put you in connection with students who are looking. If you have an entry-level full-time position, let me know, and I’ll share it with my graduating students.
Please join me in making a difference as we place 20 students in HR positions by May 1st!
