Getting Employees to Understand the Value of Benefits Offered
(This came to me from an HR Director - Steve)
Does anyone have a program that organizes and elevates the benefits you offer to your employees?
We have a good offering, but we have lower participation than we’d like to see. What have others done to try to improve participation in group programs and your 401(k)?
I’d like to hear what others have tried. Thanks for anything you can share!

One thing I've noticed is that low participation often isn't because the benefits aren't good, but because employees don't fully understand what's available or how it applies to them.
Because my firm Ironvest predominantly do benefits and employee education seminars; we've found that ongoing financial education can make a big difference, especially when it's focused on everyday concerns like budgeting, basics of health insurance, debt, retirement planning, and making the most of employer benefits.
I'd also recommend looking at how the benefits are communicated. Sometimes simply consolidating everything into one easy-to-understand resource and offering short educational sessions throughout the year can help.
The biggest thing I've learned is that employees are much more likely to engage when the conversation starts with their financial needs rather than the benefits themselves.
