Director of Human Resources for Access Corporation in Cincinnati, Ohio

We are looking for a   Director/Human Resources Business Partner for the Access Corporation.

This role oversees the North American HR Business Partner team while serving as a Business Partner to senior operating leadership for an established US region. The role is considered a ‘player/coach’ both managing the Business Partner team along with Business Partner responsibilities for a region. 

The role serves as a consultant to management on all Human Resource related issues for the Operations regions and secures HR resources that enable the business to achieve its goals and objectives. 

Primary Functions:

  • Develops a consultative role with managers of all levels in a variety of areas including communications, employee relations, performance management, resource management, team and individual development, practice/policy interpretation and application, staffing, and other management challenges.
  • Manages a team of HR Business Partners across North America and provides coaching, oversight, and guidance to the team.
  • Keeps up to date regarding business challenges, opportunities, strategic direction, industry, and competitive environment.  Uses HR and business information to consult with senior leaders and other functional leadership to develop appropriate HR strategies and solutions.
  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with business leaders and the HR group to develop solutions, programs, and policies.
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with legal counsel as needed/required.
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Provides HR Policy guidance and interpretation.
  • Provides guidance and input on business unit merit planning, talent management, and workforce planning.
  • Partners with managers on all staffing needs in their respective units/branches, including restructures, workforce planning, and succession planning. 

Education and Years of Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of strategic HR generalist experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in the resolution of complex employee relations issues.
  • Multi-site experience highly desirable.
  • Prior management experience a plus.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines including compensation practices, organizational development, employee relations, talent acquisition,  performance management, leave of absence, and federal and state respective employment laws.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and ability to partner with all levels of leadership and management teams and HR colleagues in order to influence HR strategies practice and achieve results. 
  • Must deal effectively with demanding and stressful situations.
  • Must be skilled at working in an environment of change with a high degree of ambiguity.
  • Excellent consulting skills at the senior leadership level.
  • Strong conflict management, interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to interact with employees at all levels. 
  • Must have the ability to effectively develop and implement new strategies to address short-term and long-term business needs.
  • Must have the ability to support multiple business units in multiple locations and manage multiple priorities.
  • Must have the ability to understand issues domestically and internationally.
  • Must have the ability to take initiative to identify and anticipate client needs and make recommendations for implementation.
