Looking to Establish a Performance Management System

(This came to me from Brad Owens - an HR Netter - Steve)

If I were looking to go in depth on establishing an effective performance management system, what resources, books, training, etc would you suggest?

I want us to focus on conversations, goals and two-way feedback instead of a two sentence "you're doing great!" review.

Thanks for any recommendations you may have - Brad

Hey Brad! I am implementing PM for one of my clients and find that Skillnet (another great system is Talent Snapshot) is a good product for continuing the ongoing performance management discussions. Skillnet has a mobile application that can easily be integrated into day-to-day discussions. I feel like sometimes it's system complexity that holds managers back from good, frank, timely discussions. Both systems have strong competency libraries to start the conversations. And both are extremely affordable -- even my smallest clients can afford them. Cheers, Colleen

  • We implemented Catalytic Coaching in January 2017 and are really happy with the process. You can buy the book on Amazon (by Garold Markle) to read about the process and the thinking behind setting it up this way. It works for all roles and focuses on future employee development.
