We pay out a lump sum, contingent upon the execution of a general release.

At 3M we pay lump sum, allocated to last day at work, with the signed release completed.

We have paid both ways.  It has depended upon the circumstances around the termination and the state in which they reside.  But always contingent upon the execution of a general release.

Hi Amy!  We do salary continuance.  It's a little more work to administer, but I think the recipients appreciate it.

Thanks!  We are currently doing salary continuance and looking at changing.  The main reason is the administrative ease of paying a lump sum.  I do know that employees do like the continuance more.  Thanks for your feedback.  Let's do lunch!  I will send you an email.
