The Montgomery Ohio Chamber of Commerce is excited to partner with Sasha Naiman, the Deputy Director of the Ohio Justice & Policy Center, to present this Second Chance Hiring Event on October 7.
Employers can expand and improve their hiring pool by considering qualified candidates with criminal records. During this presentation, participants will learn about safe, smart strategies for second chance hiring and retention.
We will discuss:
- How to understand background checks
- Relevant federal and state laws/regulations, including Title VII, FCRA, and "disqualifying offenses"
- Opportunities like tax credits, bonding, and Certificates of Qualification for Employment

About Our Presenter:
Sasha Naiman the Deputy Director of the Ohio Justice & Policy Center (OJPC). OJPC is a nonprofit law firm whose mission is to create fair, redemptive criminal justice systems. Sasha leads OJPC’s organizational operations, and helps people with criminal records remove barriers to employment, housing, education, and civic engagement. She launched OJPC’s initiative to help survivors of human trafficking to fully reintegrate into society. Sasha has conducted presentations statewide about overcoming criminal-records barriers, including educating employers about the benefits of “Second Chance” hiring. She is also actively involved in OJPC’s policy advocacy.
