Input on deciding what study materials to purchase for SPHR certification in early 2020

I am seeking input/feedback from the HR community on which study materials and/or learning systems to purchase for the SPHR certification in early 2020.  I am looking for a self-guided study experience that provides me with good content but also looking to be economical, as I am currently in career transition.  Please provide input/feedback, as there are so many choices and I would like to get some firsthand experiences from folks that have already received their SPHR certification.

  • Hello Eddie, while I have not received my SHRM certification I do have some first hand knowledge of the self study methodology. First I tried the SHRM study program. I have to admit I was a little overwhelmed when you received 4 book, on-line materials. They have a good system but it was a little much to do while working.

Next I found HR Topics and Lori Kleinman. She was a speaker at a SHRM convention and I really liked her. Her program is great. Thee were 7 or 8 live classes, 1 book and tons of materials on her website. The live classes are video taped so you can go back and watch them over and over. She does a really nice job of simplifying the material that I have found easy to remember. And it is pretty inexpensive all things considered. I will been sitting this summer.

    Best of Luck,
