Time Off Benefits for Commission-only employees

I'd like to learn about Short Term Disability benefits for commission-only employees.  Our commission-only salespeople would have income from existing accounts even if they didn't work for some period of time.  If they are out for a while, though, I would think someone else might need to manage the accounts. How to handle the commissions in that situation?

  Also for that matter - vacation or PTO.  Do your commission-only employees have a bank of time off?

Would be curious to hear how other companies approach this.  Our current approach is to not track time off for commission-only employees.
