Ending of Remote I-9 - What are you doing?

With the recent announcement of the government ending the allowing of I-9s to be completed remotely and all I-9s that were processed during the pandemic, needing to now be physically checked I wondered how everyone was setting up their system. As well as if you think the government will be requiring those who were hired, and then either let go or resigned during the pandemic to be reprocessed as well?

We are currently setting up an email blast to then request our employees to begin setting up a meeting time so we can physically verify ids, to be completed by August. So I would love to know what everyone else is doing to see if there is anything we can do to ensure this process can be as quick and painless as possible.

Thanks - Lauren

Hi, Lauren - thank you for posting this.  I am curious on this as well - my company does not have a physical office space; they have operated fully remote for 13 years.  I am hoping there is significant push back on this decision.  Come on national e-Verify!

Christie Engler, my understanding is that E-verify does not have anything to do with this.  The COVID Virtual Policy terminates 07/31/2023, and by 08/30/2023 we must have completed an in-person physical inspection.

Marla Mann you're correct - I am hoping an eventual national mandate for E-Verify will make the form I-9 null and void across the country.  Ah dreams!
