I have used the CompAnalyst tool through Salary.com and found it to be fantastic. Very accurate data, ability to narrow down to very specific scopes (geography, industry, etc.) and their corresponding job descriptions are quite good. I would recommend making the investment.

It has been a while since I’ve used or paid for compensation sites with the discovery years ago of ONet. https://www.onetonline.org/ This is a free resource compiled of actual W2 data. ONet enables the user to search by region, state, and city. Use to create salary bands, job descriptions, cross-reference like positions/essential functions and so much more. Keep in mind that the data is a year or two behind, which can be easily adjusted using COLA rates or your merit range.

I used Salary.com before and it was useful but not for what I was paying. It depends how often you will be using the site. I found the site difficult to navigate the different job descriptions as they did not match mine and had to adjust for that. I had a small HR department, and it was more cost effective to hire someone to do this as a project and revisited every 2 - 4 years to make sure we were aligned.
