Alternative Recruiting Methods

(This came to me anonymously from an HR practitioner. - Steve)

During this challenging time, what alternative methods are you seeking to reach potential applicants and candidates. We're still looking to hire now, and we also want to be prepared for the future once the crisis settles down.

I'd love to hear what resources you are using/considering. Thanks for any input and ideas you're exploring.

  • Known as the cinema advertising company, National CineMedia has been working with companies across the country to help them recruit talent with ads in movie theaters for years. And while movie lovers can't attend theaters right now, NCM has 130 million+ records of movie-goers so can reach them wherever they are -- including in the digital space (banners, pre-roll video, and OTT/CTV). What makes us unique is that our proprietary database essentially has already qualified prospects just by the very nature of the info we have on our movie audiences. Movie-goers are 79% more likely to be streaming, median age is 31, and our database is robust with harder-to-reach audiences like GenX, GenZ, millennials. Our video completion rates are well above average in many categories. We have worked with smaller companies in single markets and larger in multiple cities, offering very low minimums. Whether recruiting professionals in medical or other professional roles or restaurant and service workers, our company can help with effective and cost-efficient recruitment messaging.

In this crazy season we are going through one thing remains certain and that is peoples thirst for knowledge.  One thing we have found successful is reaching out to our target market which is often easy to identify on several social media platforms and inviting them not so much to be a client or be recruited but to "Virtual Open House".  We have several speakers and talk about who we are as a company, what we do for people, and the impact we have on our communities.  We focus more on the "WHY" during our delivery and obviously discuss opportunities in the event they know someone that may be a good fit for working with us.  It essentially creates 1000's upon 1000's of new recruiters who are having more intimate conversations with people and in many cases points us to someone who we may have never even looked at or knew was open to interviewing.  With most people having time on their hands spending 30 - 40 mins in a zoom meeting to learn some things has been great, not to mention the new relationship that is seeded.
