HR Business Partner for Belterra Gaming - Cincinnati, Ohio

Located in Anderson Township next to Coney Island and Riverbend Music Center, Belterra Park Cincinnati is a dynamic center of hospitality, bridging the iconic Cincinnati tradition of the River Downs racetrack, to the casino/gaming industry which is still relatively new to Greater Cincinnati.

POSITION SUMMARY

The HRBP will serve as an internal consultant to leaders and key stakeholders to align the HR strategy with business objectives. The HRBP is responsible for building relationships with their assigned business units and providing advice and expertise in all areas of HR.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Contribute to the business strategy by identifying, prioritizing, building and/or recommending improvements in organizational capabilities, behaviors, structures, and processes
  • Drive and influence processes (performance, development, and career) to ensure that leader and team members’ level of performance and capabilities meet current and future standards.
  • Manage specific projects as determined in the annual HR operations plan as well as participate in functional and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Build credibility and relationships across various levels of leadership.
  • Mentor and guide leaders to effectively coach team members and ensure that they have the tools, resources and training to operate in a manner that champions our values
  • Maintain high level of EQ in assessing and addressing difficult or sensitive situations.
  • Develop and implement metrics to track leadership effectiveness as well as the impact of programmatic efforts on turnover, retention and Feedback Survey (engagement) results.
  • Guide leadership team members in ensuring compliance with all corporate policies and procedures, local state, and federal laws and government regulations pertaining to employment practices. Lead and assist with internal investigations, EEOC charges, etc.  Maintain accurate and complete records of investigations.
  • Provide expert advice and coaching to team members and leaders where appropriate. Listen to the aspirations of team members and guide them at being at their best both personally and professionally. Understand team member opinions and anticipate their needs and concerns.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

These skills and abilities are typically acquired through a Bachelor’s Degree and at least 6-10 years of combined HR and leadership experience or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: (Licenses, Certifications, Testing, etc.):

  • Operational knowledge and experience in consumer-driven hospitality/food & beverage, retail, gaming or entertainment business (ideally in a 24/7 environment) is highly preferred.
  • Diverse and in-depth knowledge in the following areas of human resources is important: Employment, Training, Compensation, Benefits, and Employee Relations.
  • Experience and passion for Learning & Development design and delivery will make you an exceptional candidate.
  • Thorough knowledge of all state and federal employment laws and regulations.
  • Additional knowledge of and experience in risk management and labor relations is helpful.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all licenses/certifications per Federal, State, and Gaming regulations.
  • Ability to maintain all Regulatory licenses within the assigned state of employment
  • Must successfully pass an alcohol and drug screening
  • Experience successfully navigating a complex, matrixed environment is key.
  • Must demonstrate a strong solutions-focus approach and be comfortable working in an environment that demands strong deliverables along with the ability to identify problems and drive appropriate solution
  • Proven expertise in leadership coaching and development is essential for success in this role.
  • Must be able to manage a high-volume workload and work hard to get the job done.
