Shift Differentials

We are discussing changes to our shift differential structure.

I was wondering what other companies offer as shift differentials for 2nd & 3rd shifts.

Is it percentage based or flat amount?  How much?

Thanks for your help!

  • We do a flat amount in our bakery facility.  I don't know the actual numbers but something like 25/50/75 cents per hour.

  • At 3M, we provide $.75 for 2nd shift, no 3rd shift in place.  We also pay diferential if majority of work time takes place during second shift hours.

  • Both of the manufacturing companies that I have worked at in Fairfield, OH offered $1/hr shift differential for both 2nd and 3rd shift hourly production positions. Professional positions were posted with shift listed and the off shift was taken into consideration during the offer negotiation process.
