Recognition Ideas

(This came to me from a new HR Department of One peer - Steve)

Hello everyone!

I just started a new HR role, and my company doesn't have any form of employee recognition in place. I have some things I've used in the past, but I thought I'd check and see what others do as well.

Our company is a mix of in-person and hybrid employees. We have multiple locations across three States, and our workforce is made up of front line people and office people. I'm not looking for a one size fits all program. It would help to hear some creative things you've done that have worked in your workplaces.

Thanks in advance for any ideas you can share!

Hi there, HR Department of One!

I also used to be an HR Department of One. We were an entirely remote organization, but had employees in the greater Cincinnati area, as well as other states across the country. We implemented Giftogram to reward employees for anniversaries, birthdays, or even a job well done.

Every month, we collected nominations for an award that coincided with one of our core values, rotating through the values until we started over again. I'd read the nominations at the meeting and randomly select one winner who received a $15 Giftogram! It was the best of both worlds because employees got to hear nice feedback about how they embodied that value, and one person (we made sure they couldn't receive the Giftogram again within a year) got a monetary award.

My current organization uses AwardCo for employee recognition, but I don't know anything about their pricing or if it's a good fit for smaller organizations. But on this platform, managers can recognize their employees through a social feed and assign "points" that can be used towards items, gift cards, or company swag.

    Hope this helps!
