Position

Purpose: This position is responsible for the personnel and administrative functions of Milwaukee.

World Festival, Inc., the producers of Summerfest, throughout the calendar year. During the Summerfest “busy season’ (approx. March through August), this position will be responsible for the HR duties outlined below for the Operations Department, the department responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of MWF-owned property, and Milwaukee World Festival part-time hiring. During the festival “off-season,” this position will support the MWF full-time administrative staff within the corporate office. Several seasonal, part-time employees may be under the purview of the Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Recruiting, scheduling, hiring, training and retention of a group of seasonal employees, as well as managing the payroll, and administrative functions of the Human Resources department. This position requires collaboration with other departments to advance these duties by providing support for MWF’s day-to-day operations and all events held at the venue.

During MWF Busy Season

Responsible for organization of Company recruiting, interviewing, orienting, training, and retention of Summerfest seasonal employees, including MWF Calendar management and cross-department communication

Responsible for gathering, updating, and posting all departments seasonal positions, in collaboration with Legal and Accounting Departments

Ensure Company employee records are current and compliant

Retention and/or scanning of disciplinary files in MWF secure software

Assist with timeclock and payroll administration functions, in collaboration with Accounting Department

Assist with the ordering and distribution of staff uniforms

Resolution of employee grievances, in collaboration with the Legal Department, as needed

Cultivate and strengthen Milwaukee community in partnerships with the Department of Workforce Development and other non-profit organizations

During MWF Off-season

Develop and foster good employee relations, including using sensitivity, generational, safety and other necessary training

Maintain a safe, positive, and productive work environment and ensure this intent is communicated and adhered to by all laterals and subordinates

Communicate relevant information to department and others within the company within a timely manner through proper channels

Continually strive for improved means and methods toward department management, including giving and receiving feedback from colleagues, subordinates, and upper management

Maintain positive, cooperative, team-oriented attitude and abide by all MWF Human Resources and Legal policies toward treatment of all MWF employees

Complete all duties otherwise assigned

Qualifications

5+ years of personnel and administrative management experience

Ability to resolve complex customer service and conflict management issues

Highly organized with the ability to manage various projects simultaneously

Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills

Functional knowledge of the special event business

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

Valid driver’s license

Education and/or Experience

Educational degrees or equivalent in-field, technical, military or industry experience

Computer Skills

To perform the job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet Explorer

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret company policies, budgets, or governmental regulations.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Foreign language skills are a plus.

Work Environment

Music festival environment – volume may be moderate to loud during festival hours

Employee will frequently work overtime including evenings and weekends.

Employee will be exposed to various weather conditions associated with an outdoor public venue.
