Human Resources Generalist - Logistics for Kohl's in Middletown, Ohio

Supports building productivity by overseeing HR processes, initiatives and compliance programs in order to develop and retain an engaged workforce

ACCOUNTABILITIES

SUPPORTS ASSOCIATE RELATIONS

  • Provides day-to-day support to Executives on employee relation issues, performance behavior, policies and procedures
  • Conducts on-site investigations into regulatory compliance or associate performance/relationship issues
  • Coordinates with DC/Corporate partners to provide relevant data on investigations and federal/state/local law compliance matters
  • Supports Senior HR Manager in analyzing trends in associate behavior and attitudes to drive improvements in productivity, safety and overall engagement
  • Supports to promotes a union free work environment

LEADS TALENT AND WORKFORCE PLANNING SOLUTIONS

  • Proactively develop and refine workforce plans to meet building metrics throughout the year
  • Provide input to centers of expertise in the design of new hiring programs and practices along with the  candidate experience and communication
  • Partners with the Centralized Staffing Team during non-peak and peak periods to meet the staffing needs of the location

SUPPORTS BUILDING LEADERSHIP WITH HR AND WORKFORCE ISSUES

  • Partners with the Corporate Shared Services Center (SSC) to analyze trends related to Associate questions
  • Manages new Associate onboarding and orientation process
  • Oversees the delivery of on-site training of HR, Compliance and Business/Professional Skills
  • Supports the performance appraisal process along with compensation increase throughout the year based on role
  • Supporting Benefit and Wellness initiatives through corporate partnerships and analyzing utilization to meet the associate needs
  • Supports engagement initiatives such as associate roundtables, survey focus group meetings, and associate committees
  • Supports Senior HR Manager /Site HR Manager in working with Executives to ensure strong development plans are in place

SUPERVISES FULL-TIME AND SEASONAL ASSOCIATES

  • Interviews, hires, trains, and supervises direct reports and all workflow activity to include orientation, hiring events, day-to-day associate support, and customer service.
  • Develop Associates' functional skills by managing day-to-day work assignments and by providing coaching, performance feedback, and performance assessments.
  • Fields questions from the team and resolves escalated concerns

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED

  • 2-4 years Employee Relations or Human Resource experience
  • Working knowledge of basic computer skills to include Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint & web based application
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Conflict management and resolution skills

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  •  Flexibility to work occasional nights, weekends and holidays

PREFERRED

  • Distribution or manufacturing experience
  • Union avoidance experience
  • HR Certification
