Out of Sick Leave & Now They Have COVID

Good morning HR Heros,

What are you doing for your employees if they have used all their sick leave and have COVID for the second time? Are you giving more than 64 HRS of sick leave annually? Do you have emergency COVID time off? I am looking for ideas to help our employees feel like they don't have to come to work when they are sick. ~Thank you in advance!

  • Can they use other PTO?  If not, we're just letting them either A) work from home, or B) take off and come back when they're better.

      Rebecca Weyer, They can use their PTO.  We just wanted to be sure we were doing the best for our employees. They can use LWOP or Vac if they have it. We give 64 hrs of sick leave, and a couple are out due to COVID-related illnesses. Thank you for your reply!

  • Does the company have anything like a Care Team that can step in and help fund a few days of pay for the employee? WFH an option?
