Many companies have an “Employee Handbook.”  Some were drafted in the 1970’s and were last edited in 2001. Some of you inherited a handbook that was created by the owners and  their family and they LOVE it “as is.”  Laws change and so should employee handbooks.  Employers still fail to realize that employee handbooks are reviewed by employees on two occasions: when they think they are being shortchanged out of a benefit, and when they are disgruntled or fired. Then, that handbook is reviewed by their attorney.

Jeff Shoskin, a Partner with Frost Brown Todd, will share those topics that should be included and will reveal topics and language to avoid. He also will discuss the unique problems faced by employers with locations in different states. Bottom line. One size cannot fit all.
