HR/Employee Communication

We are a multi-state organization with employees who are working in distribution and manufacturing so they are not at a computer all day.  We are having a hard time communicating effectively with employees.  We end up spending extra time sending additional communications and follow-ups using various methods (email, manager distribution, time/payroll system) and then end up making exceptions when employees claim they were not aware or did not get enough reminders.

What methods do you use to communicate effectively with your employees?  Has anyone required email to be check at a certain frequency with login reports from IT for verification?  Does any one have any other communications methods they require their employee to check?

Thanks for any feedback on this - Katie

  • Hi Katie, we have some of the same challenges.  We are a smaller site, so in addition to sending information out via email, I highlight important announcements during our monthly all-hands meetings.  I usually give people the opportunity afterwards to request paper copies of information related to what I announced.  I always have a few who ask.  We have also provided employee kiosks - computers for employee use in our break room.  That has helped increase access for employees.  Of course the more we can move our systems to mobile-friendly platforms, the better!  Our shop floor employees are generally comfortable using mobile apps.

  • Hi Katie! My company provides an employee app for effective and timely communications to drive performance and engagement of frontline associates. It allows you to push out "nudges" to ensure your staff has the information they need when they need it. Check out www.nudgerewards.com or contact me at msanderson@nudgerewards.com and I can share more about our solution.
