GCHRA Talent Acquisition Trends: Effective use of Assessments in the Hiring Process - 2/16/21

A panel discussion featuring users and suppliers to provide information on assessment tools used by talent acquisition practitioners in the hiring process.

Panel Speakers: Heinrich Stander, Mark Nagy, Jeb Stewart

Heinrich Stander is an executive coach, speaker, trainer and writer. He lives out his passion for shaping the futures of individuals and the success of growing organizations. His “not-so-secret” sauce?  Advanced, interpersonal skills coaching and training. Born and raised in sunny South Africa, at age 30 he sold everything he owned in search of the American dream. With two suitcases and a little bit of money he started a brand new life in beautiful Cincinnati, Ohio where he still lives today. Heinrich’s study of human nature and the fuel that powers career growth has taken many forms. From humble beginnings in the “jungles” of Africa to senior leadership positions at multi billion dollar Fortune 20 companies in the concrete jungles of America, to the board rooms of non-profits, he’s seen it all. In his latest book Rocket Fuel for Careers he now shares 30+ years of professional experience and some of his adventures while building, rebuilding and growing careers in multiple countries, cultures, industries and organizations across the globe. Mark Nagy from Meridiem.io has consulted for a diverse set of organizations, ranging from a non-profit local women’s shelter consisting of 10 employees to a federal agency that employed (at the time) more than 240,000 employees for over 20 years. He has also consulted on a variety of organizational projects, including developing and analyzing employee assessments, conducting training needs assessments, providing statistical consultation, implementing leadership development programs, and creating customized employee engagement surveys. He recently developed and validated a measure of team civility and has demonstrated the impact civility has on both employees and employers in the workplace. Mark received his master’s and doctoral degrees specializing in Industrial-Organizational Psychology from Louisiana State University. He taught at Radford University for five years before becoming the Director of the Industrial-Organizational Psychology Master of Arts graduate program at Xavier University in 2000, and he remains in that position today. In an article published in 2018 The Industrial-Organizational Psychologist, the Xavier University MS I-O psychology program was rated first in the country in student perceptions. He has spoken at over 45 national conference presentations and 20 published articles in several journals, including Industrial and Organizational Psychology: Perspectives on Science and Practice, the Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology, The Psychologist-Manager Journal, The Industrial-Organizational Psychologist, and Applied H.R.M. Research.

Jeb Stewart is the President and Chief Operating Officer of The Predictive Group. A graduate of the University of San Diego with a Bachelor of Arts in Finance and Management, Jeb began his career in the financial services industry. Working in B2B sales roles led Jeb to working in Commercial Real Estate for a large Land Development investor. Building upon his experiences in deal structure, capital formation and sales, Jeb moved  into the role of Chief Operating Officer of War Horse Leasing, a heavy equipment leasing company. After joining Predictive Group, Jeb led the growth of the company by investing in new assessment and training products and expanding sales territory to California, Oregon, Washington, New Mexico and Nevada. Jeb took the lead shortly after joining Predictive Group in the acquisition of several new products for the Predictive Group; the Predictive Index Cognitive Assessment, Leadership Performance Index and the Leadership Transition Program. Since taking the operational control of the Predictive Group, Jeb has expanded the group’s core footprint by acquisition of licensed territories in California, Oregon, Washington, New Mexico and Nevada for the Predictive Index Management System. A significant portion of Jeb’s focus is the growth and development of the Predictive Group, which includes the addition of new Associates to the team. In addition to his operational duties for the group, Jeb services a number of Predictive Group clients personally.
